Ideas for Podcast no.1
In my first podcast I want to document the process of research for my Industrial Design Studio called “No Bottled Water”. The task is to design an new drinking fountain for the RMIT campus so that people would use them and live down concerns about hygiene and so on. Reaching the goal of people using the fountains could effectively help to reduce rubbish created by bought bottled water. The structure will be: Explaining how existing drinking fountains work, how many different kinds of fountains exist at the campus, conclusions of former interviews with students concerning the fountains and a discussion with a friend of mine brainstorming for ideas and suggestions for a new design.
To produce this podcast is the first step of documenting the process of designing the new fountain. A vodcast with sketches and first renderings will then follow.
I think the main challenge for me will be to figure out how to create the audio but mainly the video file in an interesting way so that people would listen and watch. I think I will have some difficulties with the software because this is the first time for me to edit audio and video stuff.
Today´s achievements concerning the mcdengl- project
Our project: Making a video (7-10 mins). Name of project so far: About us two.
Main intention: showing both man and woman, being together but not together, being together physically but not mentally,
showing that both of them are lonely and searching for true love and happiness and dying to finding their soulmates
Guiding principle: simplicity- less is more; no dialogues but self- created music, no colour except from 1st shot
To do: set up exact story, find places to shoot, make a storyboard, make a moodchart
Ideas for sequences: both boy and girl are watching same movie but at different times;
going towards a corner together (inspiration-pic) and seperate at the corner, going their own ways
showing shadows, silhouettes, showing man watching woman in the mirror
man watches busy city from rooftop being lonely
sex scene: orgasm, open mouth, interaction of bodies without emotions
romance scene: showing nude parts of woman, showing male hand lightly touching her -> emotional part
Inspiration: evanescence: tourniquet;

Pecha Kucha: Possibility for young designers to present their ideas in less than 7 minutes
Pecha Kucha Night
Pecha Kucha is a funny event in which mostly creative work can be easily and informally shown. Presenters are allowed to show a slideshow of 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds. This results in a total presentation time of 6 minutes 40 seconds on a stage before the next presenter is up.The format was originally devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein- Dytham Architecture in Tokyo in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. Now this event also takes place in Melbourne. See here!
